KARIN LOFSTROM
Karin Lofstrom is the Executive Director of CAAWS, the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity and has been with CAAWS since 1997. Through CAAWS, Karin works in Canada with the Canadian Olympic Committee, Sport Canada, Health Canada, National/Provincial/Territorial Sport Organizations and Multi-Sport and Physical Activity/Active Living Organizations to assist them in developing and implementing gender equity initiatives within their organizations to create more opportunities for girls and women to participate and lead. In addition, Karin has worked internationally with the Pan American Sport Organization (PASO) Women and Sport Committee, the International Working Group for Women and Sport (IWG), the Singapore Women and Sport Group, Department of Youth, Sports and Recreation Govt of Bermuda and FISA, the International Rowing Association to share the expertise of CAAWS in the area of women and sport development. Karin has had a life-long involvement with sports. Prior to working with CAAWS, Karin was the National Team Coordinator for Skate Canada, responsible for the coordination of all details for Canadian skaters competing at international events including the Olympics. She has also worked with the men's national team at Basketball Canada, Canadian Interuniversity Sport, and Sport Canada. As a volunteer with Field Hockey Canada, she served as Vice President for the Womens Field Hockey High Performance Committee and then Chair of the International Excellence Committee and has volunteered at many Canadian Women's National Ice Hockey Team Training Camps and organized many International Womens Hockey events. She also has her own women sports promotion business, KL Sports Sport Source for Women (www.hersport.net). Karin continues to enjoy participating in a variety of sports and physical activities, including golf, cross country skiing, snowshoeing and fitness training. KIM HAWKINS-GM EZ-TIXX
Kim has been in the sports and entertainment field for over a decade. She received her undergraduate business degree from University of the Pacific and her Masters degree in Sports Marketing from the University of San Francisco. Kim Hawkins is currently the General Manager for EZ-TIXX, a full service ticketing company. She is not only in charge of all new client acquisition and management of all sales team members across the country, but she is also a part owner in the company. Kim got introduced to ticketing while working with Global Entertainment, a vertically integrated company that built, managed, marketed, and ticketed arenas. At Global Entertainment Kim was named the Director of Sales and was responsible for all contractually obligated income generated at all six venues, including hiring and managing a local sales staff at each facility. Kim was specifically responsible for naming rights, soda and beer pouring rights, as well as the partnership with a banking institution. In her two years with this company, Kim managed to get naming rights deals for three venues, including the Santa Ana Star Center which was in the top 10% for amount received based on it’s size. Over that time period Kim generated and managed over $2 million for the company annually. Prior to working with Global Entertainment, Kim worked in TV sales in the San Francisco Bay Area and had direct ties and job responsibilities with the Oakland A’s, Raiders, San Jose Sharks, San Jose Earthquakes, and the CyberRays. While living and working in the Bay, Kim was involved in many different sports and business organizations such as BAIM and the NSMN. Kim also has experience internationally with the Nottingham Forest Professional Football league, while they were a part for the English Premier League, and with an entertainment and sports agent. Kim’s experience and diverse background has given her the chance to experience success as well as challenges. It is the challenges, however, that has helped her grow, and she sees each day as a chance to learn something new.
